Amy Pro, Ph.D.

Dr. Pro is the founder and CEO of Pro Educational Training, LLC and provides the training Reviewing and Interpreting Transcripts from Mexico.  From 2007-2012, Dr. Pro directed a special program with The University of Texas at Austin analyzing transcripts from Mexico and creating comparison charts with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.  After analyzing curricula from Mexico’s federal school system as well as numerous state, private, and university systems and analyzing over 3,000 transcripts from Mexico, Dr. Pro has become an expert in the field.  Additionally, Dr. Pro has over 27 years of experience with Texas public schools as a teacher, high school counselor, high school administrator, Director of Guidance and Counseling, and Assistant to the Superintendent.  Dr. Pro is a Texas certified teacher, counselor, and administrator; she has a B.S. in Elementary Education from The University of Texas at Austin, an M.S. in Bilingual Education from Laredo State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Administration from The University of Texas at Austin.

Ramón Talavera Franco, M.A.

Mr. Ramón Talavera Franco is a private consultant working with Pro Educational Training, LLC.  He provides expertise on the Mexican educational system as well as curriculum alignment.  From 2005-2012, Mr. Talavera Franco coordinated a special program at The University of Texas at Austin aligning Texas high school standards to 100+ Mexican high school systems in order to provide accurate transcript analyses for students from Mexico. He served as The University liaison with Mexico’s governmental and educational officials and was a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of the Mexicans Abroad.  Before working at The University, Mr. Talavera Franco was the Community Affairs Coordinator at the Mexican Consulate in Laredo, TX, and for over fifteen years he worked  in mass media communications in Mexico designing educational ESL television programs.  Mr. Talavera Franco’s proficiency in world language acquisition recently led him to design ¡Y qué me cuentas! (http://yquemecuentas.blogspot.com), a blended Intermediate to Advanced Spanish as a world language course to teach Spanish through Hispanic literature, integrating Web 2.0 technology.   Mr. Talavera holds an M.A. in Spanish from Texas A&M International University, and a Spanish as a Foreign Language Teacher’s Certificate from the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM).

Veronica Pro Covington, Ph.D.

Dr. Covington is an educational consultant working with Pro Educational Training, LLC.  Dr. Covington is currently teaching Children’s Literature as an adjunct professor at The University of Texas at Austin and provides training on What’s New in Children’s Literature. She has been teaching Children’s Literature at the University of Texas at Austin since 2000. She has been a children’s literature reviewer for  School Library Journal, Criticas, and will be reviewing books for the new online  journal Mamiverse.com.  Dr. Covington has a B.S. in English and Spanish and Education,  an M.S. in Supervision with a minor in Bilingual Education, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from Texas A&M University at College Station with a minor in Library Science specializing in Children’s Literature.  She has over 40 years of  experience as a teacher, librarian, and administrator at the public school and university levels. Dr. Covington has been a speaker at the local, state, and national level for the Texas Library Association (TLA) and the American Library Association (ALA).  She has done workshops for Education Service Center (ESC) VI  and Austin ISD in What’s New in Children’s and Young Adult Literature.
